52 Modern Manners for Today's Teens Volume 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the bestselling 52 Modern Manners for Today's Teens! This weekly flip book offers 52 MORE creative and crucial tips to help parents and teens navigate our modern world with confidence.

With eyes down and headphones on much of the time, our teens miss critical life lessons that would otherwise be picked up through daily interactions. If that's not enough, our teens are expected to figure out the dos and don'ts of an online presence and virtual connections without much guidance. There is a lot that needs to be taught deliberately to give them the best chance for success.

The good news? This book makes teaching these important concepts both simple and connective. Choose one tip per week to discuss; take a photo of the tip and text it to your teen; display a tip at the breakfast table and let them learn on their own; or, let them read it like a book.

These small pieces of knowledge and simple tips for being a good human will transform their life and your home.

A few favorites:

Be a Good Conversationalist: If someone asks you a question about yourself, answer the question, then ask a question in return. This back-and-forth allows the conversation to be interactive and more interesting for everyone, instead of being one-sided or self-focused. For example, if someone asks what your favorite food is, answer them, then ask, "What is your favorite food?" If you can give more than a one-word answer, or add a little insight, even better!

Celebrate Others: When something good happens to someone, celebrate with them. Don't rationalize, downplay their success, or say they just got lucky. Don't act like you deserved it more. Let them have their moment and talk it up. Give them the chance to be the star and feel the joy of accomplishment. Few things show emotional maturity more than being happy for the good fortune of others.

Give Your Attention: If you are checking out at a store, fast food place, or other retail spot, give your full attention to the person helping you. If you're on a call, end it. If you're listening to headphones, take them out. People serving you should be treated with respect, and shouldn't have to compete with whatever is on your phone.

Editorial Reviews

Starry Ferry Books Review — 52 Modern Manners for Today’s Teens, Volume 2

I’ve really enjoyed spending time with 52 Modern Manners for Today’s Teens, Volume 2. It’s a straightforward, practical book that makes teaching manners feel natural — not forced or preachy. A lot of parents and teachers who’ve shared their thoughts with us say the same thing: this book is full of simple, common-sense advice that actually gets kids thinking and talking.

As a parent of a 5th grader, I can say that incorporating this book into our routine has been incredibly helpful. Each tip is clear and easy to understand, and it sparks great conversations at home. It’s helped my child reflect on their behavior in a new light, and I’ve seen them begin to adjust their actions in different social situations, whether with friends or at school.

What I love about this book is how approachable it is. The lessons are short and relatable, opening the door for good discussions about manners without feeling like a lecture. Whether you’re a parent or a teacher, I highly recommend this book if you want a fun and easy way to guide kids in building better social skills.

About the Author

Brooke Romney is a writer, speaker, educator and connector. She has been published in The Washington Post, The Deseret News, Scary Mommy and a host of other online publications where her pieces have been read millions of times. She writes avidly on her blog and Instagram page @BrookeRomneyWrites where she has created a large, vibrant community of learning and growth.

She comes from very girly roots but has somehow morphed into an outdoor exploring, dirt loving mom of 4 boys, and couldn’t be happier about it. She is married to a man who keeps her on her toes but keeps loving her even when she leaves all the cupboards open and clothes on the floor.

They have bounced across the country from California to Virginia and Arizona to Michigan, but have put down roots in Utah and can’t get enough of the gorgeous mountains, family-friendly lifestyle, and enviable four seasons.

When she is not writing or mothering, you can find her in a good book, volunteering in the schools, or on a walk with a friend. She has a weakness for gummy candy, sunshine, youth sports, and family travel but also find magic in the ordinary moments that have become rather sacred in our fast paced world. Meaningful connection with family, friends, strangers, and God is central to her life and where she finds purpose and joy.
