The perennial bestseller-now available as a sensational new graphic novel.
Since its publication in 2003, nearly 38 million readers have discovered The Kite Runner. Through Khaled Hosseini's brilliant writing, a previously unknown part of the world was brought to vivid life for readers. Now, in this beautifully illustrated graphic novel adaptation, Hosseini brings his compelling story to a new generation of readers.
The Kite Runner Graphic Novel captures the haunting story of Amir and Hassan—two boys from different social classes growing up in 1970s Kabul—whose bond is tested by betrayal, guilt, and the search for redemption.
Rendered in evocative, full-color illustrations by Fabio Celoni and Mirka Andolfo, this adaptation brings Hosseini’s emotionally powerful narrative to a new generation of readers. Set against Afghanistan’s shifting political landscape, the story follows Amir’s journey from the streets of Kabul to a new life in America—and eventually back again, where he must confront the past he tried to forget.
Moving, accessible, and visually gripping, this graphic novel is ideal for fans of the original book, newcomers discovering the story for the first time, and young adult readers ready to explore complex themes through a compelling visual format.

Editorial Reviews
From Booklist
Among the growing ranks of graphic reworkings of contemporary novels, this one retains the flow of the much longer text version with particular elegance. Celoni and Andolfo’s full-color artwork depicts scenes, actions, and character expressions in a manner that resists feeling truncated: this is not a collection of the tale’s highlights but a careful weaving of word and image to give the story a new identity. In Hosseini’s deeply affecting story of the past as inescapable prologue to an idealistic man’s adult life, moments such as Hassan’s rape, the orphanage director trapped between his charges’ hunger and a government official’s corruption, and Sohrab’s first smile in America are here executed with both passion and depth. This graphic novel should not be approached as a précis of the original but rather as an expansion. It matters little whether to read the original or this treatment first; one will invariably lead readers to the other in order to reexperience an important translation of life into art. --Francisca Goldsmith
Praise for The Kite Runner (the novel) :
"[A] powerful first novel... political events, even as dramatic as the ones that are presented in The Kite Runner, are only a part of this story. In The Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini gives us a vivid and engaging story that reminds us how long his people have been struggling to triumph over the forces of violence—forces that continue to threaten them even today."—The New York Times Book Review
"A beautiful novel... This unusually eloquent story is also about the fragile relationship between fathers and sons, humans and their gods, men and their countries. Loyalty and blood are the ties that bind their stories into one of the most lyrical, moving and unexpected books this year." --The Denver Post
"A marvelous first novel... the story of two young boys who are friends in Afghanistan, and an incredible story of the culture. It's an old-fashioned kind of novel that really sweeps you away." --San Francisco Chronicle
"This extraordinary novel locates the personal struggles of everyday people in the terrible sweep of history." --People
"A moving portrait of modern Afghanistan." —Entertainment Weekly"A powerful book...no frills, no nonsense, just hard, spare prose...an intimate account of family and friendship, betrayal and salvation that requires no atlas or translation to engage and enlighten us. Parts of The Kite Runner are raw and excruciating to read, yet the book in its entirety is lovingly written."—The Washington Post Book World
"An astonishing, powerful book."—Diane Sawyer
