A Harmonious Fusion of East and West: Canada’s Soul Captured in Modern Ink.

In 2018, artist Edmund Mok left Hong Kong and relocated to Canada. To truly connect with his new home, he embarked on an epic five-month road trip across all ten provinces. This profound journey completely transformed his artistic vision, inspiring him to break away from classical constraints and discover a bold, new visual language.

This breathtaking art collection reimagines Canada's diverse beauty through the soulful and evocative medium of modern Chinese ink painting.

Inside this beautifully curated art book, you will discover:

  • The Majesty of Wilderness: Towering mountains, thundering waterfalls, and endless ancient forests breathing with life
  • The Grace of Wildlife: Living poetry captured in the silent, raw expressions of Canada's iconic creatures
  • The Rhythm of the City: A unique contemporary perspective on Canada's urban landscapes, blending concrete structures with flowing, expressive brushstrokes

Every page is a masterclass in balance and emotion—where the density of black ink meets the vast, silent "white space" of the Canadian soul. More than just a collection of landscapes, this book is a poetic, visual record of a lifelong artist finding his true voice and a deep sense of belonging in a vast new world.

About the Author

Edmund Mok is a Hong Kong-born artist based in Canada whose work brings together Eastern and Western artistic traditions. Working primarily with Chinese ink wash, as well as charcoal and pastel, he is particularly drawn to the expressive possibilities of black and white. Edmund Mok

Mok received his Master of Visual Arts from Hong Kong Baptist University in 2015 and has participated in numerous exhibitions in Hong Kong and Canada. After moving to Canada in 2018, he became increasingly inspired by the country's landscapes and wildlife, which have since become central subjects in his work.

Growing up in Hong Kong's dense urban environment and later encountering Canada's expansive natural landscape has shaped his artistic perspective. Mok combines traditional Chinese ink with contemporary painting approaches and watercolour techniques, using landscapes and animals to explore tranquility, nature and the meeting of Chinese and Western visual traditions.

His recent work includes ink-wash paintings of landscapes, wildlife and human portraits, and he continues to exhibit in Ontario. Newmarket Juried Art Show
